Thomas Orin Dixon, an employee of the Town of Newburgh Highway Department and lifelong resident of the area, died Saturday, August 10, 2002 at home. He was 63. Born in Newburgh, N.Y. on September 5, 1938, he was the son of the late John and Julia Lake Dixon. He was a member of the 1st Congregational Church in Newburgh, N.Y. He was married to Sharon Steele. Survivors include his wife Sharon at home; one daughter Lori Toombs of the Town of Newburgh; one son, Kevin Dixon at home; six sisters, Jean Thompson of Lake Champlain, N.Y., Genevieve Davis of Fayetteville, N.C., Isabelle Bird of the Town of Newburgh, Della Marshall of Clintondale, N.Y., Patricia Sarvis of Newburgh, N.Y., Rebecca Scriber of Montgomery, N.Y.; four brothers, Robert Dixon of Clintondale, N.Y., John Dixon of Chapel Hill, N.C., Richard Dixon of Wallkills, N.Y., Daniel Dixon of Egan, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will visit from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2002. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 following the visitation session at Engel Funeral Home, Inc. 5319 Rte 9W, Newburgh, N.Y. Pastor George Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, contributions made to the Dixon family would be deeply appreciated.
