Sioux City Journal; Sioux City IA; 2001-4-8 Thomas R. Lake PENDER, Neb. - Thomas R. Lake, 70, of Pender died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Pender Community Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church in Pender with the Rev. James Kramper officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. today at Munderloh Funeral Home, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. at the church. Mr. Lake was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Omaha, the son of John and Florence (English) Lake. He farmed with his aunt and uncle after high school. He served in the U.S. Marines in Korea from 1952-1954. He married Mary Ehler on Nov. 10, 1956. They moved to Boise, Idaho, for four years and moved back to Pender in 1960. He retired in 1993. He was active in Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jay and his wife, Julie Lake of Thurston, Neb., and Jim Lake of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Jana and Rob Renz of Thurston; nine grandchildren; and a sister and her husband, Betty Claire and Jack Ryan of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
