Fort Worth Star Telegram; Fort Worth TX; 2004-11-1 Tommie Jean Whiteside, 77, a retired legal secretary, was called home by the Lord Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at an Arlington hospital. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessing Colonial Chapel. Burial: private at Whiteside Family Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Blessing Funeral Home. Tommie was born to Jack and Esta Lake in Abernathy Sept. 13, 1927. She married Fort Worth attorney John Whiteside in July 1950 and worked as his legal secretary. He preceded her in death in 1981. In 1999, through the grace of God, she met and enjoyed the last five years of her life with the dearest man, Maurice Carroll. Survivors: Sons, Randy Whiteside and wife, Vicki of Fort Worth and John Robert "J.J." and wife, Phyllis Whiteside of Grandview; daughters, Jo Ruth Stone and husband, Terry of Lillian, Jacqueline Barrett and husband, Bob of Loganville, Ga.; sisters, Tyrece Blessing of Fort Worth and Peggy Phillips of Arlington; brother, Jack Lake of Hurst; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of friends whom she dearly loved.
