Herald Review; Grand Rapids MN; 2001-10-21 Toney David Lake, 72, Boy River, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct. 5, 1929, in Los Angeles, Calif., the son of Toney and Ruth Lake. At the age of 13 he moved to Shell Lake, Wis., working on the Tobler farm and attending high school. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy in 1949. He was a merchant seaman for 31 years for U.S. Steel of Duluth, retiring in 1991. He married Mary Ann Kibbler on Jan. 8, 1972, and they made their home in Boy River. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Boy River, helping to build its new church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 458, Boy River, a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood Branch 8382 and a member of Aid Association of Lutheran 10076 of Remer. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; a son, James; granddaughter, Heather; brother, Al Lake; sisters, Dorothy Mendez and Ruth Naomi Lake; stepfather, William Tobler; special family, Jack Robinson, Gertrude Bowe, Iona Avery; and two special girls, Jami Emery and Amber Fogle. Preceding him in death were his parents and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth. Services: Saturday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Boy River, with the Rev. John Munson officiating. Burial: Zion Lutheran Island Cemetery, Boy River. Arrangements by Carroll Funeral Home, Deer River.
