Twyla Stratton Lake died at her home in Lancaster Calif. at age 93, on 28 March 2002 having lived a full and eventful life. She was born 7 Dec. 1908 in rural Scottsbluff to William H. and Alice Hudson Stratton after the family moved from Cedar County, Miss. She was the youngest child, having two sisters and three brothers. She and Bernard Lake were married 12 Dec. 1925 at Torrington, Wyo. The couple moved to Lancaster, Calif. and was longtime farmers/ranchers, and showed parade horses. She attended Lake Alice School and graduated from Scottsbluff High School as valedictorian in 1926, even though married, and was active in several school activities and entertaining musically. She was a musician, poet, teacher and leader in Metaphysical Beliefs and directed interested persons to full and happy lives using her physic talents. In 1997 she was elected to International Poet Hall of Fame and given her own website. She also had articles in several publications and copyrights. She recently wrote her memoirs and had visited with nieces and nephews to share her stories, which, were enjoyed a lot. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Bernard Lake; brothers, Oren, Chet and Clyde Stratton and sisters, Edna Ford and Ruby Christian. Her children were James Kyle, Larry and Norma Lynn. Her nephew is Carl Stratton and nieces are Averil Carlson, Doris Smith, Shirley Staman and Audrey Hamburger who all live in Scotts Bluff County and others are Eleanor Barbour in N.M., Marjorie Cheatle and Kay Stratton in Calif.
