SAARELA, Valerie Margaret Kathleen (nee Lake) Born in Sault Ste. Marie,
ON, 14 Nov 1931 died suddenly in Toronto, 8 Dec 2000. Predeceased by her
parents Albert E. and Beryl (Lang) Lake. Survived by cousins Lera (Lake)
Moore of Peterborough, ON and George Lake of Calgary, AB. Graduated from
Sault Ste. Marie Collegiate Institute in 1950 and The University of
Toronto in 1954. Served with Canadian University Service Overseas in
Thailand and Viet Nam, 1971 - 1974. She taught English toa generation of
newcomers to Canada in Toronto and retired in 1997. A memorial reception
will be held on 11 Jan 2001 at the Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre, 4
Credit Union Drive, Toronto, ON. In lieu of flowers contributions may be
