Mrs Velda Mae LAKE, 75, Topeka (KS), died Tue, May 6, 2008 at her home.
She was born Aug 29, 1932 in Topeka, the daughter of Ress T and Nettie
B MICHAEL FLOWERS.  Velda had attended North Topeka Baptist Church.

She was married to LeRoy W LAKE on July 24, 1950 in Topeka.  He preceded
her in death on Apr 5, 1987.  She was also preceded in death by a
daughter, Nelda Mae LAKE on Dec 4, 1981; a grandson, Walter Charles
LAKE on Sept 10, 1970; two great-grandchildren; eight brothers; and
five sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Leanna COMPTON and Beth HESTER, both of
Topeka; three sons, Steven L LAKE, Charles R LAKE, and FrankS LAKE, all
of Topeka; two brothers, Gerald R FLOWERS of Wichita (KS) and William
E FLOWERS of Topeka; 26 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-granddaughter.

Graveside services will be at 10:30a, Sat, May 10, 2008 at Rochester
Cemetery, Topeka.  Velda will lie in state after 3p, Fri, at Penwell-Gabel
Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, where the family will
receive friends from 6 to 8p.  Memorial contributions may be made to
Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka KS 66606-2800.
