Velma is survived by a loving sister, Eileen Spicer, of Dauphin, Manitoba; cousin Anna (Russel) Stewart of Carman; the Wilson family members; sister-in-law, Phyllis Lake of Calgary and a multitude of beloved friends and relations across Canada. Velma is particularly remembered by the Susan Peters family, especially Allen, of Carman. She completed her High School education and post-secondary training and began a working life in Dauphin. It was here that she met and married Milton Harvey Lake.
