Craig BONHAM -- Funeral services for Vena Mae Craig, age 66 of Bells, formerly of Fannin County, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Johnny Martin and Rev. Troy Miles will officiate. Burial will follow in Dodd City Cemetery, Mrs. Craig passed away Thursday night, June 19, 2003, at Bonham Nursing Center. Mrs. Craig was born August 18, 1936 in Lone Elm, Texas, the daughter of Virgil Harmon Lakey and Bessie Lee Dillard Lakey. She was a 1954 graduate of Dodd City High School. Mrs. Craig was of the Church of God faith. She was a seamstress and supervisor of Bonham Manufacturing Company for a number of years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Burpo; and three brothers, Eulis Lakey, Clarence Ray Lakey and Willie Arthur Lakey. Surviving are her sons, Ron Burpo and wife Lena of Sherman and Russell Burpo of Ravenna; daughters, Debbie Monro and husband, Gary of Bells and Sandra Jones of Denison; brothers, Jimmy T. Lakey of Irving, Roy T. Lakey of Ravenna and Billy L. Lakey of Bonham; sisters, Virgie Stroud of Bonham and Ella Caughron of Big Sandy; eight grandchildren, Mandy, Justin, Rachel, Vanessa, Josh, Christina, Matthew and Keith; four great-grandchildren, Cara, Mickayla, Blake and Hannah. Pallbearers will be Ray Lakey, Bobby Lakey, Jimmy Dale Lakey, Justin Monroe, Mike Stroud and Josh Burpo. The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday night.
