Berry, a resident of Eldridge, Iowa and formerly of Bettendorf, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Berry died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Verdia Leek was born Feb. 7, 1922, in Rock Bridge, Mo., to George and Lydia (Byerley) Leek. She married Doyne Berry on Aug. 22, 1941, in Blanche, Mo. He died May 7, 1984. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, and enjoyed quilting, reading, word-search puzzles and caring for her yard. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Dale Meumann, Eldridge, Iowa; her sons and daughter-in-law, Donald and Pat Berry, Blue Grass, Iowa, and John Berry, McCausland, Iowa; her grandchildren, Gene Meumann, Terry Meumann, Dan Meumann, Michael Berry, Ella Collin, Cindy Berry and Cortney Berry; her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Hannah, Sarah, James, Ryan and Cody; her sisters, Doshia Miller, Willow Springs, Mo., and Lillith Tetrick, Cornelius, Ore.; and her brothers, Auton Leek, Medford, Ore., and Oscar Leek, of Oregon. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Elsie Estes and Inez Thompson; her brothers, Lyle Leek and Clarence Leek; and four grandchildren.
