Passed away on Sunday August 20, 2009 in the Hants County Community Hospital. Born March 26, 1920 in East Walton, he was a son of the late Levi and Elsie (White) Lake. Vernon was a bulldozer operator working on roads for Ernie Hill and Parsons Construction throughout the province, mostly from Peggy's Cove to Truro. He worked for Fundy Gypson Company in Wentworth and Dalhousie University as a grounds keeper. He was great hunter and friend and was always there for his family. Vernon is survived by his son, Donald; wife, Gail; and grandchildren, Joshua, Bethany and Timothy. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian; brothers, Blois, Aubrey and Grant; and sister, Verda. Vernon was the last surviving member of his family. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, September 1 with a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2 both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. Burial to follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville.
