Veronica M. Lake Veronica M. Lake, 80, died Saturday, May 20, at the Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home in Fall Creek. She was born Oct. 17, 1919 in Cornell, the daughter of Harry and Louise (Walsvig) Hetchler. She was a graduate of Cornell High School and the Eau Claire Teachers College in Eau Claire. Veronica married William Lake on January 19, 1941 in Chippewa Falls. They farmed in the New Auburn area and also resided in Rice Lake and Eau Claire. Veronica was active in church activities and was a member of WELCA. Survivors include two sons, Tim (Lynnea) Lake of Spooner, and Keith Lake of Mercer Island, WA; one daughter, Kathryn Lake of Macon, GA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Delores Norton, and one brother, Melvin Hetchler. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home or Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Cornell for the purpose of sending the youth of the church to Luther Park. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 23 at Our Saviors20 Lutheran Church in Cornell with Rev. James Leschensky officiating.20 Burial will be in the Cornell Cemetery.
