LAKE, 83, Metuchen, who has a son in BRICK TOWNSHIP, died Thursday at John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Edison Township. Mr. Lake was a tug boat captain for 34 years with Tracy Towing Lines in New York City, retiring in 1971. He served in the Navy from 1933 until 1937. He was a charter member of Union Local 333, United Maritime Division of International Longshoremen Association, New York City; AARP, and was a communicant of St. Cecelia Roman Catholic Church, Iselin, Woodbridge Township. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Neptune City and Treasure Island, Fla., before moving to Metuchen 12 years ago. His first wife, Ida Marie Lamb, died in 1983. Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Mary Ellen Stovall Lake; two sons, Edward R., Oak Ridge, and Robert J., Brick Township; two stepsons, Robert T. Stovall, Hampton, and Donald G. Stovall, Sayreville; a sister, Marie Mannion, Jersey City, and seven grandchildren. Flynn & Son Funeral Home, Woodbridge Township, is in charge of arrangements.
