VIOLA TOMPKINS Wawarsing, N.Y. Viola Tompkins of Wawarsing, a retired 
nurse's aid at Ellenville Community Hospital for 19 years, and a five-
year resident of the area, died Saturday, September 1, 2001, in St. 
Elizabeth Hospital, Utica. She was 67. The daughter of the late John 
Lake and Eleanor Grace Parker Wunders, she was born April 10, 1934, 
in Middletown. Survivors include six children, Viola Mae Prottas of 
Woodridge, Walter James Tompkins Jr. of Plymouth, Meta Roberti of 
Bricktown, N.J., David Craig Tompkins of New Berlin, Robert P. 
Tompkins of Kerhonkson, and Patricia Ann Tompkins of Altamonte, Fla.; 
15 grandchildren, Jason, Kim, Melvin, Rebecca, Sarah, John, Joyce, 
Anthony, Erika, Amber, Steven, David, Alexandria, Robert Joshua, and 
Gabrielle; one great-grandchild, Austin; 12 brothers and sisters; and 
several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 
p.m. today, Thursday, September 6, at the Loucks Funeral Home Inc., 
Route 209, Ellenville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. 
tomorrow, Friday, September 7, at the funeral home. The Rev. Walter 
Steinard will officiate. Cremation will be at the convenience of the
