Indianapolis Star and News; Indianapolis IN; 2007-8-5 Virgil Lake 84, Richmond, IN, born July 1, 1923 to Richard and Eva Lake in Jackson County, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after an extended illness. Mr. Lake was an ordained deacon and a member at Ravinia Park Baptist Church. He was retired from Alcoa and spent many years of enjoyment as an antique dealer. Survivors include his wife, Kay; three daughters, Sue Cross (Ken), Star Reese (Karl), Lori VanBuskirk (Brian), all of Noblesville, Indiana; one son, David of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; step-children, Barbara Sue McClurg of Punta Gorda, Florida, Roy McClurg (Gracia), Stephanie Boggs and Vina Davis (Jonas) of Centerville, Indiana, Lance McClurg of Hagerstown, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lester and Burchel of McKee, Kentucky; sisters, Joyce Tompkins of Winchester, Kentucky, Joyce Wade and Fairlene Allen of McKee, Kentucky, Ellen Abrams (Luther) of Fairfield, Ohio and Ruth Hall of Berea, Kentucky; nieces and nephews. Preceding Mr. Lake in death were his parents; first wife, Fern, who died in 1985; step-mother, Leatha and brother, Earnest. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2007 in Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary, Richmond, IN. Rev. Charles McMahan and Kenneth Cross, son-in-law to Mr. Lake will officiate.
