Virginia (Ginger) Lake Vadersen, 48, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Virginia Beach (Sentera) Hospital after a very brave four year battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Gary; daughter, Cameron; son, Andrew; her mother and stepfather, General and Mrs. (Barbara) Russell Dougherty, Arlington, Va; her father and stepmother, Rear Admiral and Mrs. (Lucinda) Julian Lake, Binghamton; sisters, Julia Lake, Springfield, Va; Diane (Stephen) Riordan, Walkersville, Md; her borther, Julian Lake IV (Christie), Leavenworth, Kans; several nieces and nephews and her constant companions, Bud and Cody. Ginger received both her Bachelor and Masters degrees from Old Dominion University, and was a teacher in the Virginia Beach School System. She was a member of Eastern Shore Episcopal Chapel and its Altar Guild. She was known for her sweet personality and for her love of birds, flowers and especially the ocean. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 28, at the Eastern Shore Chapel. Burial will be in the Chapel Cemetery. The H.D. Oliver Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
