Journal Inquirer; Vernon CT; 2004-9-28 Waldo D. Lake, 69, of Stafford Springs, died Sunday, September 26, 2004 at home. Born in August 14, 1935 in Houlton, Maine, the son of the late Pearly and Madaline (Wilson) Lake. Prior to his retirement he worked for Maskel Construction Company for 25 years and JMJ Construction for several years. He is survived by his former wife and best friend, Lois Lake of Tolland; a son-in-law, Wayne Kempton of Coventry; his grandchildren, Ryan, Jesse, Nicole Kempton; a special sister-in-law, Elaine Fetko, of Tolland, and sisters-in-law, Eloise Wilkinson and Marilyn Steppen, both of Florida; and special friends Red Sharpe, Donald Rice and Jeannette Meader. He was predeceased by his son, Donald D. Lake, and a daughter, Donna Lynn Kempton. Waldo was a devoted father and grandfather, who was a very giving person always there to help someone even though he didn't have a lot. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 29, at 7 p.m. in the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
