The Macon Telegraph; Macon GA; 2011-10-19 Wallace McCree Lake, MACON Wallace McCree Lake, 86, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Heart of Georgia Hospice, Perry. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Marty Watson and the Rev. Bob Shell officiating. The family will meet friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Wednesday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. They suggest that those who wish make memorial contributions to the Heart of Georgia Hospice, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, GA 31069 or to the American Diabetes Association Regional Office, Suite C-206, 5105 Paulsen Street, Savannah, GA 31405. Mr. Lake was preceded in death by his wife, Bette Beckham Lake, by his daughter, Debra Lake Garland, by his parents, Horace and Blanche Wilson Lake, by his brother, Lynn Lake and by his sister, Patsy Porter. Born in Wrightsville, he served with the U. S. Marine Corps and was Shift Supervisor retired from Armstrong World Industries. Mr. Lake was a member of Rutland Lions Club and Middle Georgia Woodworkers Association. He was a longtime member of Liberty United Methodist Church. Survivors include his son, Steve (Debbie) Lake of Macon; three grandchildren, Lori (Shawn) McGovern of Covington, Katie Lake of Macon and McCree Lake of Kennesaw; his sisters, Martha Flanders and Madge Smith of Wrightsville and Vida McKim of Savannah and several nieces and nephews. The family wants to especially thank the staff of Jamestown Assisted Living in Fort Valley and the staff of Heart of Georgia Hospice Inpatient Care in Perry for their gentle and compassionate care of Mr. Lake during this time.
