Lake, 89, of 1743 Guilford Station Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Falling Spring Nursing Home in Chambersburg. Born Thursday, Dec. 4, 1913, in Laidig, Pa., he was the son of the late Ira B. and Mary Mumma Lake. His wife, Mary DeShong Lake, died Jan. 17, 1983. They were married on April 27, 1935. He worked for the Pennsylvania Turnpike. He was a member of St. Thomas United Methodist Church, St. Thomas, Pa. He is survived by two sons, Walter A. Lake Jr. of Carlisle, Pa., and Jack A. Lake of Chambersburg; one sister, Jean Heskett of Winchester, Va.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah M. Hill; and two brothers, Woodrow Lake and Earl Lake. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Pa. The Rev. Paul Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in Sideling Hill Christian Church Cemetery in Needmore, Pa. Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.
