Press & Sun-Bulletin Binghamton, NY 11 Nov 2017 Walter O. Lake, 91, a long time resident of Newark Valley, passed away on Nov. 8, 2017. Walt is survived by his children: William Lake, Robert (Eileen) Lake, Mary Brink, Barbara (Joseph) Cicchelli, daughter-in-law, Cindy Lake, brother Clifford (Connie) Lake, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Arthur and Nina Lake, he was predeceased by: his wife Inez (Christian) Lake; children: Donald and Shirley Lake; siblings: Russell, Glen, Bert and Dorothy; son-in-law Thomas Brink, a granddaughter and 2 great granddaughters. Walt was a Veteran of WW II serving in the US Army and a long-time devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley. He was a retired employee of the former Chesebro-Whitman Mfg. Co., Newark Valley; a member of the former IOOF, Oketa Lodge; the Newark Valley and Berkshire Senior Citizen Clubs; and enjoyed farming, gardening, and traveling. Walt's sense of humor brightened everyone's day while he resided at Elderwood, Waverly. He loved his caregivers and kept them 'on their toes'. They returned their love to him with wonderful care. He was blessed as was his family and they are truly grateful to all the staff. His family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church, 40 Whig St, Newark Valley on Monday, Nov. 13 from 10-10:45 am. Military Honors will be accorded at 11 am followed by a Funeral Service with Pastor Ben Baker officiating. Burial will be a 2 o'clock at Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
