Published in The Herald from Sept. 10 to Sept. 11, 2015 Everett, WA Wanda June Williams (Lakey) Evans passed away peacefully on August 16, 2015, in Lake Stevens, Wash. Wanda was born September 2, 1930, in Twisp, Wash. to Ben and Lois Jean Williams. She moved to Everett, Wash. with her family in 1944 and graduated from Everett High School in 1948. She continued her education at Everett Community College taking courses in the medical field. She was very proud of her service to the Lake Stevens community: serving in the PTA for many years (earning her a Golden Acorn Award) and served as the City Clerk. She also held various administrative positions at GTE of Everett, and then at the Dept. of Army at Ft. Lewis and Madigan until her retirement. Wanda married her husband, Richard (Dick) Evans in 1972. They lived in Tacoma, Wash. for 43 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Lois Williams; her husband, Dick. and her brother, Wayne Williams. She is survived by three children, Kathy Davis, Tom Lakey (Debbie), Ken Lakey (Karen; Seven step-children, Richard M. Evans, Robert Evans (Tammy), David Evans (Beverly), Dennis Evans (Deborah), Patti Eggleston (Richard), Victoria Evans, and Lawrence Evans; siblings, Richard Williams (Gloria), Joyce Bonner (Robert), Charlotte Brackett; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her companion Tank. One of Wanda's greatest joys was her family, which was evident to all who spoke with her. This love of her family showed in her words and actions. She also loved to crochet afghans and baby clothes for family and friends. She was an excellent cook and spent many years baking cakes and candies for holidays and special occasions. She enjoyed comparing her Christmas cookies and candies with her sister, Joyce, every year. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held September 12, 2015, at 1 p.m. in Twisp, WA at the Beaver Creek Cemetery, 18 Lower Beaver Creek Road.
