Houston Chronicle; Houston TX; 2004-6-25 WAYNE PERRY LAKE born November 15, 1923 in Houston Heights died in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 15, 2004. He was a graduate from Reagan High School. Wayne was a U.S. Navy Medic during the attack on Pearl Harbor. After the attack, he was assigned to the U.S. Marine Second Division during the Pacific Battles of World War II. He entered Ground Zero of the Atomic Bomb, ten days after it was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan. His body will be flown back to Houston for a graveside burial service to be held June 26 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hollywood Cemetery. He will receive military memorial honors. Wayne was a long resident of Houston and involved with many of the charity and art organizations of Houston. He worked many years as a court clerk, and owned a hair salon for men. Wayne was never married. His parents, Lena Indiana Stan(d)ley and Clarence Edward Lake and eight brothers preceded him in death.
