Wilfred V. Lake
Wilfred V. Lake, age 94, of Canton, died Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at
Country Lawn Care Center of Navarre. He was born in Londonderry Township,
Guernsey County in 1912, the son of Ray and Frances (Noble) Lake. Wilfred
was employed by E.W. Bliss and Babcock and Wilcox in Canton. He also
was a Plain Local school bus driver for 20 years and was nicknamed
Whitey. In 1941, Wilfred married Mildred Smith, a marriage that would
last 51 years until Mildred's death in 1992. He was a member of the
Carrollton congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving are five
children, Sandra Mercorrelli of Canton, Randy Lake of Malvern, Nancy
Rosia of Hartville, Deborah Hubbard of North Canton and Robin Richart of
Massillon; a sister, Anna McCullough of Cambridge; 15 grandchildren and
14 great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday,
January 15, 2007 at 3 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home-Canton Chapel with
Mr. Paul Magee speaking. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the
service on Monday from 2-3 p.m. in the funeral home. Those wishing
