Eau Claire Leader-Telegram Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA 11 May 2011 William Lake William G. Lake, 90, formerly of Saxeville, WI passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Spooner Nursing Home. William was born in Cadott, Wisconsin on June 20, 1920 to the late Warren and Edith Lake. He was raised on the family farm along with his brother Burton. He was married to Veronica Hetchler in 1942. They had three children, Keith, Kathryn and Timothy. Bill was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army - Mechanized Calvary; he was awarded the Bronze Star and was discharged as a Captain. He attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received a Bachelor of Science Degree. He farmed from 1948 until 1962; six years in northern Illinois and eight years in northern Chippewa County. He worked for the next twenty-three years at the Wisconsin Bureau of Revenue as a Property Assessment Supervisor; eleven years in Rice Lake, and twelve years in Eau Claire. Bill was married on February 14, 1981 to Euvene Weber. He lived in Saxeville, WI for twenty-five years where he and Euvene enjoyed their 'Golden Years'. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Saxeville. Bill was an avid reader throughout his entire life. He was a wealth of information with 90 years of life experience to draw from. He worked hard, never gave up, and was firm in his commitment to God, his family, and his Country. He is survived by his children, Keith S. Lake of Mercer Island, Washington, Kathryn Lake of Macon, Georgia, Timothy (Lynnea) Lake of Spooner, Wisconsin, Margaret (William) Martin of Lynchburg, VA, Dennis Weber of Battle Creek, Michigan. Grandchildren, Jason, Colin and Devin Lake, Brian Thompson, Mackenzie, Morgan and Drew Lake, Jill (Ben) Rolfes and Michelle (Michael) Clark, Amanda and Lori Weber. Great-grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph and Sydney Thompson, Layla and Ben Rolfes, Bryce Weber, Julian Lake; other relatives and friends. Bill is also preceded in death by his brother, Burton Lake, Veronica Lake, and Euvene Lake. Funeral Services for Bill Lake will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spooner, WI, with Pastor Chet Hoversten officiating. Visitation is for one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be in the Northern WI Veterans Cemetery in Spooner with Military Honors accorded by the Wisconsin Military Honors Program. On line condolences may be offered at www.dahlfh.com.
