William (Bill) Reed - At Albright Gardens, Beamsville on Thursday, December 29, 2005, aged 94 years, loving husband of the late Ena Phyllis (Cligg) Lake of Broadclyst. Devon, England, sister of Evelyn Bridgman (husband Thomas and daughter Mary) and Doris Ayre (husband Henry and children Margaret and Peter). An ardent champion of peace, "pilgrim" of the Christian faith, former Minister of the United Church of Canada, and Missionary of the Council for World Mission to Chapelton, Jamaica. Bill is survived by three sons and their families: John and Linda (Matthew; Jeffery; Susan; Emily and Jason and daughter Abigail; and Mary), Arthur and Jayne (Sharon and Robert) and Robert and Katherine (Timothy and Carolyn). Bill, born August 11, 1911, was brother to John, Mary, Nancy, Richard and Thomas Lake of Edgeworthy Farm, Witheridge. Devonshire, England. A joint founder in 1947 of Clarendon College in Chapelton, Jamaica. Bill ministered to the spiritual needs of the people of Mere, Wiltshire in England, Chapelton in Jamaica; Lowville, Kincardine, Royal York Road (Toronto), Mildmay, and Beamsville in Ontario; Lonqueuil, Saint Laurant, Lennoxville, and Bedford (multiple charges) in Quebec, Canada. Rev. Lake's departure to glory will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the First BAPTIST Church in Beamsville, opposite the Library on Mountain Street, Beamsville. Any donations will go to Clarendon College, Jamaica for books or student awards.
