Brian, Thanks for your posting on the Robbins in PA & OH. I noticed the James Robins in 1830 with John B. King as his administrator. 8-Moses line has a son John King Robins. Maybe a Robbins/King family connection here in PA too. Does any member have information on the ancestors of Henderson Robbins who was born May 31, 1827 in Davidson, Sullivan Co., PA & later lived in Lycoming , PA. I happened to come across a Bible record for him. From the website of J. Robins, the Henderson Robbins line goes back to Jonathan Robbins b. 3/26/1762 in Bethlehem, Hunterdon Co. son of Wm Robbins b. 2/14/1723 in Chedworth, Gloucester, England who married on 10/6/1745 Mary? b. 8/28/1731 in Chedworth, England. Does this indicate there were other Robins/Robbins from England in Hunderdon Co & living close by the descendants of our Daniel Robins? There were no sources provided for this information on Wm Robins & wife Mary of Chedworth, England. Very interesting! This could be the possible answer to why there are so many Jonathan ROBINS/ROBBINS appearing in Hunterdon Co around the same time. Do you have a Web site address for J. Robins? Do you have an email address for him? -- Marshall Lake -- mlake@mlake.net -- http://mlake.net From: Robbinsfamilysouthjersey@yahoogroups.com on behalf of july37 [july37@cox.net] Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006 2:13 PM To: Robbinsfamilysouthjersey@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Robbinsfamilysouthjersey] Re: Jonathan ROBINS in Hunterdon Co Marshall, I found this information on ancestry.com, One World Tree by researching the ancestors of Henderson Robbins b. 1827 in PA . His line goes back to Jonathan & Wm of Chedworth, Eng. The e-mail address for one of the submitters in jrobns@gmail.com. I contacted this person to see if they have a source. There are others with the same information on World Tree. I can't find the address for jrobins website at this time. I recently read the book "Robins Family" The genealogy of Jonathan Robins born 11/8/1785 in Lebanon, Hunterdon Co., NJ by Elizabeth Robins Wood 1st edition 1900. This is another Jonathan Robins. The genealogy begins with Jonathan Robins 1785 & the compiler didn't know the name of Jonathan's father but his mother was Eva Force Robins Aumock. Jonathan his wife Mary Vossler & their children migrated from Hunterdon to Palmyra, NY & from there went on the Wheatland Township, Hillsdale Co., MI. His sons were John, Jacob, James, Thomas, Wm, Elias & daughters Sarah & Mary all settled in MI. This book gives a detailed description of the route & mode of transportation Jonathan Robins & family took from Hunterdon Co. to NY & on to MI. For those interested in Civil War Robins/Robbins: Jonathan Robins b. 1/8/1842 son of Jacob & grandson of Jonathan, served 18th Reg MI Infantry Volunteers. Taken prisoner 1864 at Athens, AL & sent to Cahaba prison, paroled & on way home was lost in the blowing up of the ill-fated Sultana near Memphis, TN on 4/27/1865. It belongs to James P Robbins of Harrisburg, PA. He has a link "A Timeline of Hunterdon Co Events" by Marshall Lake on the site. Maybe you know this man. It's a very nice site with lots of information for Hunterdon Co. There are 1319 sources for his material but I couldn't find one for Wm of Chedworth, Eng. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/r/o/b/James-P-Robbins-NJ/?Welcome=1000592138 After, reviewing this lineage from William of Chedworth down to Henderson Robbins of PA, it's quite possible there are inaccuracies along the way. I'm guessing these people are related to our Daniel Robins. Finding a good source for the English connection to Wm Robins is a key factor. If that's the only source, then I agree further research is needed to confirm it. There is the 1850 census for Sullivan Co. PA listing Henderson & his father Wm J Robins. After that, I'm having difficulty with the next step to Jonathan. It would be great to find a good source for this line to either connect it to our Daniel Robins or rule it out as a unrelated family.
