Lake (28.0) [10] [25] 30 Aug 1834 inventory of estate of Elizabeth ------ made [10] [42] Notes - Abraham Lake known as "Abram"; [7] married Elizabeth ------. [1] [14] [15] [26] [37] [38] [41] Elizabeth ------ moved to Georgia after 1796; [2] lived in Putnam County, Georgia. [10] Child #2, Joseph, married Mary ------. [6] [10] [20] [26] [40] Child #5, Anna, died by 1813. [11] Questions - Citation #10 says child #2, Joseph, died 1796. [12] Citation #11 and Citation #13 say Abraham Lake married Sarah ------. [12] Based upon Citation #21 and Citation #30 it's possible Elizabeth ------ is Elizabeth Lock, but with child #1, Richard, marrying in 1783, it seems unlikely. However, Citation #29 suggests that Abraham Lake was married twice and the mother of child #1, Richard, was someone other than Elizabeth Lock. Additionally, there is a large gap between the birth of child #1 and child #2 possibly suggesting a second spouse. If correct, then Elizabeth Lock could be correct and the mother of all the children except child #1, Richard. But, something else to consider is that Elizabeth ------ moved to Georgia after Abraham Lake died and lived with/near child #1, Richard, which might seem odd if Richard were her step-son. Child #1, Richard, died in 1800. Perhaps Elizabeth ------ felt obligated to help the family. [12] Citation #27 believes Elizabeth ------ is Elizabeth Leacy based upon "U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900". [12] Citation #11 seems to says will of Abraham Lake proved 5 Apr 1796. [12] Citation #39 says Elizabeth ------ is Elizabeth Leacy; Abraham Lake and Elizabeth Leacy married c1753. [12] I suspect Abraham Lake was born earlier than 1743 since his firstborn child, Richard Lake (28.2), was married in 1783. [12] Citation #37 says Abraham Lake born c1760, but that seems unlikely considering the birthyears of the children. [12] Citation #25 seems to indicate Elizabeth ------ living in Hunterdon County, New Jersey 1834, but I don't think that's correct. [12] Citation #38 says Abraham Lake born 1730. [12] Citation #39 says Abraham Lake born c1730. [12] Citation #38 says Abraham Lake died 16 Apr 1796 in Bethlehem Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. [12] Citation #11 says Abraham Lake died 13 Mar 1796 in Bethlehem Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. [12] It could be child #2, Joseph, who was a member of the Bethlehem Militia, Hunterdon County, New Jersey 1793 per "The Hunterdon County New Jersey Militia 1792", Hiram E. Deats, 1936. [12] Citation #39 says Elizabeth ------ died 8 Nov 1798 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. [12] Citation #41 says Abraham Lake born 1720, but that can't be right if it's correct that his father was Thomas Lake, born 1718. [12] I can't help but think there is something odd going on with this family. Abraham Lake (16.0) was born 20 Apr 1796 to John C. Lake (28.0), I believe illegitimately. Abraham Lake (109.0) died in Apr 1796, a few days before Abraham Lake (16.0) was born. Abraham Lake's (109.0) wife, Elizabeth, moved to Georgia shortly thereafter. (Perhaps Abraham Lake (16.0) is actually the illegitimate son of this Abraham Lake (109.0)?!! That might make more sense considering everything that happened in Apr 1796.) John C. Lake (28.0) was married to Abigail Kaes in c1812 when John C. Lake (28.0) was 36 years old. This family may have a skeleton in the closet. [12] Explanations - It's not totally clear in the records transcribed by <PopCarpet@aol.com> in Citation #10 (Reference->28.2.txt) whether they're for Elizabeth ------ (spouse of 109.0) or Elizabeth Lanning (spouse of 28.2), however it seems logical that the record which states John Lake (28.0) as the executor is for Elizabeth ------ (spouse of 109.0) and the one which states James Lake (17.88) as the executor is for Elizabeth Lanning (spouse of 28.2). But, it seems a little strange that Joseph Lanning would leave the mother-in-law of his daughter an inheritance (perhaps the inheritance was actually for his grandson, James Lake (17.88)). [65] Child #8, Ada, married ------ Walker. [42] Questions - Citation #28 refers to Susannah Cousins as Susanna. [26] Citation #50, Citation #71 and Citation #72 refer to Susannah Cousins as Susan. [26] Citation #31 says there were two children named Henrietta, one marrying George Wood and the the other marrying Henry Wood. [26] Citation #34, Citation #45 and Citation #82 say (via extensive autosomal DNA analysis, timeline and locations) Susannah Cousins daughter of Joshua Cousins and Susanna Elliott; Joshua Cousins son of Jacob Cousins and Mary Conant Wallis (if this is correct then Susannah Cousins sister of Rachel Cousins (spouse of 109.50)); Jacob Cousins son of Abraham Cousins and Mary Eames; Mary Conant Wallis daughter of Joshua Wallis and Abiah Conant. Citation #73 says Susanna Elliott seems wrong and theorizes Susannah Cousins is the daughter of Joshua Cousins and Susannah Page. [26] Citation #41, Citation #55 and Citation #57 say Christopher Lake born 1762 (and Citation #41 calls him the youngest son of John Lake) in Little White Creek, Washington County, New York. [26] Citation #57 says Christopher Lake died 6 Apr 1810 in Ernestown Township, Ontario, Canada. [26] Citation #76 says Christopher Lake died c1810. [26] Citation #57 refers to Susannah Cousins as Susan Ingersoll, born 1746, died 1811. [26] Citation #54 says Christopher Lake born in White Creek, New York. [26] Citation #42 names an additional child, James, born 1790. [26] Citation #55 says Christopher Lake died 1840. [26] Citation #71 says Christopher Lake born 1762 in Little White Creek, Rensselaer County, New York. [26] Citation #72 and Citation #76 say Christopher Lake born 1762. [26] Citation #56 indicates Christopher Lake moved to Canada 1795. [26] Citation #57 refers to Christopher Lake as Christopher Thompson Lake. [26] Citation #3 says Christopher Lake living in Ernestown Township, Ontario, Canada 1786, but it is incorrect and a transcription error. [26] Citation #57 says Christopher Lake married second Matilda Bomhour. [26] Citation #76 says Christopher Lake and Susannah Cousins married c1781. [26] Citation #76 says all the children born 1782-1798. [26] Citation #57 and Citation #71 name a child, James, born 1790 in White Creek, Washington County, New York. [26] Citation #60 says "The Present register of baptisms at Six-Mile Run commences 1787." That seems to contradict Timeline event dated 18 May 1755. Before 1787 the church seems to be at Three-Mile Run. [26] Citation #69 could be referring to child #6, Christopher. [26] Citation #74 says Christopher Lake born 1761 in Gravesend, Kings County, New York. [26] Explanations - Child #6, Christopher, is based solely on the father, Christopher, calling himself "Christopher Lake Sen" in Citation #17. I have seen several times in older records where people are referred to as Sr/Sen and Jr/Jun just to distinguish between a younger and an older person with the same names rather than a father and son. But, in this case, the only other Christopher Lake who could qualify to be Jr/Jun is Christopher D. Lake (17.329) who was born in 1808, a year after Citation #17 is dated. But, something else to consider is that Citation #17 says that the family consists of 7 children. There's no evidence that any child died before 1807, which means, if a child named Christopher existed at the time of the petition it would make the number of children 8. [26] Based upon Citation #53, Citation #65, Citation #66 (and other citations), Christopher Lake served on both sides during the American Revolutionary War, and ended up being a Loyalist. (Apparently, it wasn't uncommon for a person to switch sides during the American Revolutionary time.)
